Comfort Zone

Did you know that when God wants you to step out of your “comfort zone,” He wants you to grow? God always has a reason why even though you feel anxious about what He asked of you. It’s ok because it is normal to have those emotions. Everything will make sense after you achieve what God wants you to do. You will also know why He made you take a step out of your comfort zone.  For instance, there was a time in my life where God led me out of my comfort zone.

It all started last summer when I read my church’s bulletin and saw that they were looking for Catechist aides to help out with Continuing Christian Education (CCE). I felt the need to contact my church about it, but I was still hesitant.

I kept telling myself that this opportunity would be amazing since I have been attending College to become a Kindergarten Teacher. Being a Catechist aide would also let me gain some experience for my major. Well, I was constantly putting this idea away because of doubts.

It felt like every day I heard this small voice reminding me to contact the church about being an aide and of course, God wouldn’t stop until I ended up saying yes to Him!

I am so thankful that I did because He washed all of my doubts about being a teacher away.

On the first day of CCE, I had the mindset of how I would only help the teacher with anything she needed. That is easy, right? Well, God had a completely different plan! The teacher of the Kindergarten class was nice enough to let me take over and be their teacher. I had no idea I would come home after that day thinking, “Woah, I am the teacher instead of only being the aide!!”

This caught me by surprise because I wasn’t even expecting that to happen. I am thankful I listened to God’s voice and said yes to Him. I wouldn’t change a thing about this incredible experience He gave me. I even learned so much from it. For instance, I had a close relationship with each of the students in my class and I loved them dearly. I also realized God does want me to be a teacher, why would He give me this opportunity in the first place?

The number one factor I loved about being a Catechist last school year, was that I enjoyed teaching my students about God and how incredible He is. I wanted each of them to know that God will always love them no matter what. I believe every child in the world needs to hear that.

I am still so thankful God led me out of my comfort zone. Because of that, I gained new experiences and it definitely brought out my creative side of me!

I wanted my students to know I loved being their teacher during the last school year, so I found cute crafts for them to do and when every Holiday we celebrated comes around, I gave them a little something to take home! For example, Christmas, Easter, etc.

I would never change a thing about how God led me out of my “safe place” and I am confident more than ever with knowing that I am exactly where I need to be.

When you feel afraid to step out of your comfort zone, don’t be. Say yes to God and you will come to realize His plan is way better than yours. God wants you to “bloom where you are planted.”

  1. I really needed to see this and I believe God is wants to take me out my safe place and equipping me for a greater work in Him! But I need to stop making excuses and putting it off. Sometimes I fear if I’m going after it too early, you know! Ah, do keep me in your prayers concerning the Higher calling in Christ Jesus! Amen!!
    Blessings, peace and love!!!
    Keep up the great work!
