everybody wants to be 21
Untitled

Hey, everyone! I hope all of you are having a fabulous day today!

Have you ever wished that you could be at a certain age already instead of the age you are now? What age comes to your mind? For most people, it is either to be eighteen or twenty-one.

Everybody mainly wants to be twenty-one. Why? It’s officially the age where an individual can legally drink and purchase alcohol. When people turn twenty-one, they have the freedom to do anything they want without an adult telling them what to do.

Twenty-one is the age every single person looks forward to when they are growing up. They just can’t wait to finally be that age.

I’m at the age where everyone looks forward to in life. For me, being twenty-one doesn’t mean drinking or going to parties every single weekend. I know, the pressure is on from here to start drinking. But, do you know what? I won’t be giving in and you can read more about why I never drink. If you struggle with people pressuring you into drinking, I encourage you to read that blog post I have written and I want you to know that you aren’t alone.

Being twenty-one now is just another Birthday for me and I’m forever grateful that God gave me another year. Turning 21 on January 26, 2019, was so special because I got to go to Church on my Birthday because it so happened to fall on a weekend this year!

Here’s another thing about how everybody wants to be twenty-one, even those who are older… They want to be twenty-one again, too.

the young wish they were old and the old wish they were young.

Let’s think about this quote for a second…

When you were little, did you ever wish that you could be an adult because their lives seemed easier? I know, I have! How about when you were slowly transforming into a grown-up, did you want to be older where you can just drop everything and travel the world? Yep, I can relate to that too. As I attend college, I watch my grandparents travel the world, while I’m stuck in class! Sometimes I wish that was me because I honestly haven’t ever been out of the United States. Well, except for going on a cruise to Cozumel and Yucatan… That’s about it! I know that one day I will get to do those things and I’m so grateful to be in college to become an Elementary teacher.

Then, the older generation also wants to turn back time and be young again. They realize that eventually their time will be coming soon and maybe they don’t want their life to end.

With that being said, why do we all look forward to things in the future and not focus on where we are at in life right now instead? Let’s start focusing on the present because time is precious. We all have 24 hours each day, it depends on how we use them. We should spend our time wisely and focus more on each day. Your time will come eventually when you turn twenty-one and also retire one day so you can travel the world. Don’t give up on your dreams; keep on chasing them until your dreams are a reality! It’s definitely okay to not have your life together when you are in your early twenties.

Let’s start living life in the moment.

This blog post was inspired by the song, “Everybody Wants To Be Twenty-One” by Bill Anderson. I don’t normally listen to old country, but one day it came on RFDTV while I was at my Grandparents’ house and as I was listening to it, I began to think that the meaning behind it is so true. It inspired me to write about how everybody wants to be twenty-one. Even “the young wish they were older and the old wish they were young.” You can now purchase your personalized, signed copy of Kylie’s Corner and a complimentary bookmark I designed, here! I’m so thankful for everyone who has purchased one so far. Everyone has made so many sweet comments about my book and it means so much to me! If God has someone on your heart that you feel the need to give this inspiring book to, please listen to Him. The individual may need to hear the words God put in my heart at the time when I wrote the Kylie’s Corners that are in this book.

Thank y’all so much for reading and I hope you find something that you can take away from this blog post!

  1. I certainly would take 21 again if I could keep everything I know now. I could avoid a lot of things I now regret. I know there’s no point in it, but I hate that I didn’t meet my wife until later in life. I just feel like a lot of potentially good times were missed.

I’ll give you this advice at your 21 years, serve God and trust and obey Him! And live! How many people go through their entire lives but never really live? Go enjoy and experience life!
