We are now in the season of Lent! To be honest, Easter is my favorite celebration/Holiday because it has so much meaning behind it. I don’t know about you, but I love this time of year, especially Lent!
Let me clear things up for those who don’t know, so I’m Catholic and I have always been ever since I was baptized as a baby. Basically, most of my family is Catholic and I love being Catholic, even though I was born into it.
Ash Wednesday is the beginning of Lent and it happened last week on March 6, 2019! Catholics go to Church on that day and the priest says, “For you are dust and to dust, you shall return (Genesis 3:19) while drawing a cross on our forehead in ashes.
Then, in honor of what Jesus did for all of us, we give something up for forty days and forty nights; we end this on the day of Easter!
I remember when I was younger I would give up chocolate, Girl Scout Cookies, soda, gum, you name it!
Then as I progressed into the middle school/high school years, I gave up more serious things, like worrying because I did that way too much and I remember my mom giving me that idea to do for Lent. Then, there was another year where I gave up social media entirely for forty days and I am still so proud of myself for doing that back then because I survived! I was actually thinking about doing that this year, but I am giving something else up. Then lastly, I gave up not wearing liquid foundation during Lent last year and that was kind of a challenge for me! With that being said, I wore powder foundation all throughout Lent for forty days and I stuck to it. Now, I don’t even wear any liquid foundation on my face and I actually like wearing powder than the liquid. If you’re a girl reading this, you should try wearing a powder foundation instead of the liquid!
I am giving up watching YouTube videos because I need to focus more of my time on school. Yes, I know. It’s probably silly to you, but I enjoy watching videos on YouTube and I do that in my free time!
Even though you really don’t want to give something up or you can’t think of anything, you can do something that will help you become a better version of yourself. For instance, during Lent, I want to focus more on doing things for me and work on myself, for myself. I also want to start new and let my old self wither away, I don’t want to be afraid anymore.

You can start new too and become someone better than your past self. You can do this by thinking positive, write down quotes that will motivate you, watch YouTube videos about self-love and how to be healthy, write down things you are grateful for, participate in the Social Media detox challenge, etc. Do something that makes you happy for forty days. You deserve to do something you love, so make the most out of it.
Honestly, you don’t have to be Catholic to give up something you absolutely love for Jesus and I hope you participate in doing this with me. I challenge you to give up something that you know it will be difficult for you to stop doing for forty days AND do something that will make you a better person, it can be anything! This challenge ends on Easter- April 21, 2019. Are you up to the challenge?
Do something beautiful and you will become a better version of yourself.

When you find the time, please listen to “Fight On, Fighter” by For King & Country.
“Fight on, fighter. Don’t let anyone steal your fire. Fight on, fighter. The Spirit is alive inside ya.”

This Bible is a little pricy, but I think it is so cute! It also has margins on the side for you to take notes, so if you need one to do some reflections during the time of Lent, you should get this one.
