This is something I have been learning in Health class (yes, I’m taking summer classes – this is the last week of it!) and it really stuck out to me.
We have been told to hide our feelings when it comes to something that makes us emotional in our lives.
We have been told that we “shouldn’t feel that way” because someone out there has it worse than us.
We have been told to mask our emotions by having a smile on our face.
We have been told to ignore how we feel and just dismiss it entirely.
We have been told many other things, especially from society about how we are supposed to feel.
Why do we listen to what society has to say?
I want you to know that it’s okay to feel what you feel.
We’re allowed to have those emotions.

It’s okay to not be okay one day and we need to start accepting that instead of trying to hide our emotions.
It’s okay to be real and honest with other people, including yourself.
Yes, be honest with yourself!
Having those negative emotions does not make you weak and we all have them.
It’s what makes us human.
I think in society, we tend to forget that we are human first.
We are human before anything.
We need to be mindful about the way we feel and ask ourselves why we are feeling that way. When we are aware of our emotions and not be ashamed of them, it will help us become a better advocate for ourselves.
Even men have emotions. Society stereotypes men by saying that they can’t have feeling because it makes them “weak” and men need to be strong 24/7. What is wrong with that? Men are allowed to express theirselves just like women can.
We shouldn’t be able to tell someone that they aren’t allowed to have emotions. Instead, we should be encouraging others by saying, “It’s okay that you feel that way and I understand what you’re going through. You’re aware of how you’re feeling and you shouldn’t dismiss those feelings.”
We all need to hear that every once in awhile instead of being told that we’re not allowed to feel that way and to suck it up.
Even children need to hear that and need to be cared for.
It’s also okay to not be positive all the time because you know what? We’re human and there are days where we don’t even feel like getting out of bed or we have had a rough day. It’s okay.
We should all be understanding when it comes to our emotions and not shut people down right away. Let people come to you and help them be more aware of their emotions. We all need to help each other. We all have something that completely shatters us on the inside. We are all broken people who needs to be saved by Jesus.
We are human and we’re supposed to have emotions.

When you find the time, please listen to “Human Condition” by Unspoken.
“I do it all to make it perfect for the picture. Pretty smile, let me find the perfect filter. If they believe it, maybe I’ll believe it with them. That’s the human condition. Lord, help me, I’m so tired of pretending I can’t hold it together when I know that I can’t. Lord, show me, I don’t have to be worthy. It’s because of Your mercy and You love me just as I am.”

“Never apologize for being sensitive or emotional. Let this be a sign that you’ve got a big heart and aren’t afraid to let others see it. Showing your emotions is a sign of strength.” -Brigitte Nicole

Kind of like a gut feeling… you’re being told something. Emotions can be wrong. But it’s good to listen!

Yep. This is so true. I agree with you on this truth that most of us of followers of Jesus tends to hide from. I’m one of them, not excluding myself. That’s why whenever I feel sad, heartbroken, distressed I run to the arms of my Father and He always restores me. ❤ blessings!
