From this past weekend, God has been teaching me the importance of living in the moment and how life is so short; we never know when it will be our time to leave Earth – remember, this is our temporary “home.”
I have been learning that we need to make the most of the time we have on Earth and do something that will make the world a better place. Another reason to focus on the moment rather than capturing it all on our phones, we never know when our family (whoever you spend time with) will leave and we won’t get that time with them back.
There is another thing that I see everywhere and it happens in my family as well. When you go to a restaurant to eat or even visit with someone, are you on your phone? I’m not judging if you answered yes because I’m the second one where I’m on my phone while visiting with someone. I’m not on my phone when I’m at a restaurant because I actually want to take the time to visit with the people around me and not constantly being on my phone – I’m that person who sits there awkwardly while everyone else is on their phones and it is so sad that it has gotten to that point!
Once our loved ones leave this world, I bet we’ll regret not spending enough time with them and wished that we cherished the precious moments we had with them. What was stopping us from living in the moment? Two words: our phones. We need to do better. That is why living in the moment is so important!

If you want to do better with living in the moment instead of focusing on your phone, here are some tips:
Have a social media detox
What I mean by a social media detox is that you literally delete all of the social media apps from your phone for a short amount of time. By doing this, it will help you to focus more on what is important and the social media detox also helps you to live more in the moment. I have done this recently and wrote a blog post about it – you can read it here!
Look around you and be thankful for what you have instead of focusing on what you don’t have.
When you do this, you will start to notice all the blessings God has given you in your life and sometimes, we tend to take it for granted just like how we think our loved ones will be here forever – one day, God is going to have you say goodbye to them, so you should make the most of it now.
We also fall into this trap of loving the things we own to the point we lose our focus on God. God wants your love and He wants you to keep your eyes on Him.
Focus on the present instead of worrying about the future
When you put all your energy into worrying about what will come next or what will happen when I do this, you’re not really living in the present, are you? We need to start focusing on what we’re doing now because what we do now has an impact on our future. Don’t worry about what will happen in the future because everything will fall into place and if it isn’t meant for you, then it won’t happen. God has something so much better for you and you don’t even know it yet!
I definitely need to work on that last one to help me to live more in the moment because when we focus more on the future or realize the things we don’t have, it only makes us miserable. God always knows what is best for us.
I hope these tips were helpful and which of the three do you think you should work on?

When you find the time, please listen to “Love God Love People” by Danny Gokey!
“I tell myself to keep this up. That God wants more than just my love. But I’ve been complicating things. It’s just like me to overthink. Gotta keep it real simple, keep it real simple. ‘Cause it all comes down to this: Love God and love people.”

“Don’t wait to be successful at some future point. Have a successful relationship with the present moment and be present in whatever you are doing. That is success.” -Eckhart Tolle

Number 3 indeed! Well most of my family member’s don’t live with us. Most have moved out and gone there separate ways. A few live in the neighborhood we reside temporally for now on the earth for this is not our home. 🙂 so get to see them time to time but we are really close as a family but God is great and what has to be restored will be. Blessings & peace!

Well we don’t really spend much time together, when I get to see them it’s just Hi & bye. I did meant to say that we are not really close as a family but God will restore what needs to be restored between us all. Thanks much!

I’m like you, being the one person sitting there watching everyone stare at their phones! I think I need to start giving a mini-lecture about life being so short when that happens in the future. 🙂
