For those of you who are new here, I have documented my journey about finding out that I have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). I go through everything from explaining what my body went through that led me to take action by going to the Doctor because I felt like something was totally off with my hormones to even discussing the different blood tests I have taken, my thoughts on birth control, balancing my hormones naturally, and the supplements I’m now taking. I explain everything I went through and you can find My PCOS Journey Pinterest Board here. I put all the blog posts in order on the Pinterest board, so it is easy for y’all to get to it!

In this last blog post, I talked about how I started a new supplement called, Vitex to help regulate my cycle. Well, I started it on May 20, 2020 and I’m currently taking a month off of Vitex, so I got off of it on June 26, 2020.

To be honest, I thought I was just not going to get my period for the month of June because it came really late than usual. Acknowledging the fact that I might not have a period for June made me get in this depressing state of mind because I have never skipped a month, ever.

Ever since I was diagnosed with PCOS, I have been so thankful every month when I get my period because I’m aware that most women with PCOS struggle with getting their period and they go months without it – it makes me appreciate mine even more and I’m so grateful that mine hasn’t disappeared for good, even though I thought my body was starting to do that.

My cycle from May to June lasted 36 days and my cycle is normally around 28 to 30 days. This scared me because I realized the month of June would be ending soon and here I am with not starting my period at all. I even went to the chiropractor twice in one week to get acupuncture done because my chiropractor told me that acupuncture helps start it if you haven’t gotten your period and you’re supposed to do it every day until you get it. Well, I only did it twice in a week and got mine a few days later!

Now, my cycle has changed a lot because now I start my period towards the end of the month (literally the last week and now ends on the first week of the month.

I for real document everything on my phone by using the Femometer App (it’s free). It helps me track my cycle, how I’m feeling on a certain day, provides some health tips, and I use this app to track when I ovulate by taking my temperature every morning right when I wake up. I stopped doing this a few months ago and I know I need to start doing it again, especially since I want to be more aware of exactly when I will be starting soon and tracking my ovulation will help with that.

I’m sharing this with all of you because I haven’t ever experienced the fear of not getting a period at all and I actually thought I wouldn’t for June. It felt unusual for me because I was thinking: “Wow, if I don’t get my period, I can’t track my period and I wouldn’t be able to say that I started my period on the app.”

Most women would probably be happy with not getting their period for the month, but I felt the exact opposite because my body felt off and I have never missed a month – that was mostly why I felt so depressed.

Experiencing this “false alarm” made me even more thankful that I ended up getting mine for June, even thought it came a little bit late!

I know that I have written so much about PCOS, hormones, supplements, periods, etc. on this blog and I do it for two reasons.

First, a lot of people haven’t heard about PCOS and some women go without even knowing that they have it. I’m thankful I found out early instead of when I’m wanting to have a family of my own because I’m learning how to help my body right now without being on birth control. I talk about this to hopefully spread awareness and give women who are so lost and don’t know what to do about their PCOS some hope. I went from my Endocrinologist, who did nothing at all for me, and he only wanted to put me on birth control. I felt lost and I almost fell into that trap of taking birth control. almost. I started feeling better once I found the two chiropractors that have been helping me throughout this journey. I don’t want any women or anyone at all to feel how I felt because I was at my absolutely worst back in November, right before I was diagnosed with PCOS in December.

The second reason is that one day I want to look back and read these blog posts I have written. I want to look back and see how far by body and health has come by reading these blog posts in the future!

This is also my life and all things PCOS took over once I was diagnosed with it. So far, it has been a crazy journey and because of this journey, I have come to realize my body is so hardheaded and difficult, but I am positive that everything is going to balance out soon, it just takes time!

What is something you’re doing right now to take care of your health?

Start believing that you are well. There is absolutely nothing wrong with you on your part. Start believing that God will take care of you and He will. Start believing that you will get better and you will. God always has a reason for everything.

I added a new page to this blog and I encourage all of you to check it out! For those of you who are new here, I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) in December of 2019. I have been documenting everything that I have been through and experienced – from discussing my symptoms before I knew what was wrong, all the way to what I am doing now to help my body. My goal is to balance my hormones naturally without taking birth control. I want to give other women with PCOS hope that birth control isn’t the only option. 1. It’s none of my business, but I’m curious, if you miss a month or go are late, I take it that affects you?

      1. Ok, let me see if I can ask this without seeming completely stupid and make sense… does that make you sick? Or your hormones make you a mess?
