Good morning! This week is going to be much better than last week because we are starting this Bible Study on the Bible App!

Today’s reading is all about thinking like Jesus and fixing our mind on things above instead of focusing on what the world offers us.

Let’s talk about the thinking like Jesus part first.

Colossians 3:12-13 says, “Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy, and dearly loved, clothe yourself with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.”

Compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience are all the characteristics that Jesus has for us.

Maybe we see someone who lashes out to everyone and is struggling with a temptation. Maybe we judge that person. Maybe we don’t exactly see what the person is going through on the inside. Maybe we are mean to this person and just want to get them help. That’s what we see.

What Jesus does is He takes this person into His arms and never leaves their side. He knows exactly what their going through because He placed this individual through a storm and He didn’t ask me or even you to go through.

We are all struggling with things no one really knows about or can relate to. I wish I could take all of your struggles and make them go away, but I don’t have that ability. We go through these battles to grow closer to Jesus and He strengthens us.

My point is that Jesus see’s everything that we don’t, He see’s the entire picture and He knows the reason behind why someone does something. He knows.

It’s our job to start thinking like Jesus by having compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience towards other people.

Day one of this Bible Study also talks about setting our hearts on things above and not on Earthy things. We tend to focus on what will come next in our life and worrying about what will happen. We even urn to have the next big thing that everyone is talking about that we must have. But, the thing is that every little thing that you own on Earth is only temporary – you won’t be bringing these items with you when God calls you home. These temporary items hardly ever make us feel satisfied because we keep on wanting more. Once we find Jesus, we have everything we need in life. He should be enough for us.

Towards the end of the Devotional, it asks you a question and I’m going to ask you it!

Based on today’s reading, what is one thing God is saying to you?

I can answer this for myself – God is telling me that I don’t have the whole picture and I don’t know exactly what someone is going through on the inside. I love helping people and sometimes I just make things worse. God is making me realize that He see’s things that I’m unable to see and I must give everything to God & let it go.
