Good morning! If you’re new here, we are just now starting a new devotional on the Bible App called, Broken Crayons Still Color and it lasts for 5 days!
I just discovered that I’m able to do this… if you want to still join, here is the link, so we can read this devotional together and up to 150 people can join it (that’s what the Bible App says).
Anyways, let’s get started!
I love the analogy this Author used about us being like broken crayons.
When coloring, do you like to color with a brand new crayon or with a old crayon that has been broken?
We would all probably go with the new crayon that hasn’t been broken… yet!
But, why the new crayon? The broken crayon still colors.
That’s the thing about society.
Society wants us to be perfect and if we are broken, we have to automatically hide it from people.
The Author of the devotional says, “Just like that broken worn-out crayon, we can also feel useless to God because of the mistakes we have made or the things that have been done to us. We feel broken and ugly and useless.”
We start believing that we will never be “good enough” for God.
We start believing that we aren’t worthy of being whole again.
We simply think we are broken and that God will never use us because of it.
But, do you know what?
During the times where we are most broken, are where God puts our broken pieces back together one by one and makes us new again. We are made new by God!
When we feel broken and at our worst, that is when God uses us and most of the time, we come out so much stronger because of everything we went through.
Every little thing that has happened in our life is what makes us who we are today. There is a reason behind everything.
You may be broken now, but God is putting you back together and soon, you will become a beautiful masterpiece – His masterpiece.
You might think that you aren’t worthy of being made new again and how God wants someone who is perfect. So not true!
All we see on social media are everyone’s highlight reels. We don’t see what other people are struggling with in real life, we only see their accomplishments and not their struggles.
I am a true believer that God will change you during your most darkest times of your life for the better.
Our strength comes not only from everything we went through in our past, but from God.
You will be made new again.
You are worthy of being whole again.
You won’t stay broken forever, God is going to fix you and you will be even more stronger than before.
The thing about God is that He will choose a crayon that is worn-out and broken instead of a choosing a crayon that is new and perfect.
He will choose you with your brokenness and all.
God will put your broken pieces back together again and create something so beautiful inside of you.
To end day one, the end of the devotional asks this question: Based on today’s reading, what is one thing God is saying to you?
For me, I believe God is saying to me that He can use my brokenness for the better and even though I may be broken, He can still use me just like how a broken crayon still colors.
You are worthy of God putting your broken pieces back together again, there is nothing that God can’t fix.
You are so loved by God and you are His masterpiece.
We weren’t created to be perfect, so neither you should feel like you need to be perfect and act like you have everything together.
God loves you just the way you are.
