Before I start this blog post, I want to let y’all know that I will be doing blog posts every other week right now. I need to work on my mental health along with other things I’m going through behind the scenes.

With that being said, let’s get into this blog post. **I’m going to be real with y’all about how I have been feeling on the inside, so if you struggle with your mental health, you can skip over this blog post, but you might want to stay and read what I have to say**

You might be at your lowest and feel like you are alone, that no one can ever understand what you are going through.

You might tend to skip out on family functions because you don’t want people to think that everything is okay when it’s not.

When you are all alone by yourself, that is when your dark thought start suffocating you.

Even if people can’t physically see it, depression and anxiety are both real.

I can go through the week with mentally being okay, but when the weekend hits, I feel so alone and I just want to get away from everything. I don’t know what it is about the weekend… maybe it’s because college keeps me busy during the weekdays and I don’t have that much to do on the weekend?

There have been weekends where I would just stay in my pajamas all weekend without even taking a shower and taking care of myself. Seems gross, but depression makes a person do this.

It is so difficult defeating depression and for me, I honestly don’t feel like I am myself when my mental health goes through this dark road.

Sometimes, when you’re depressed, you tend to barely have an appetite. For example, my goal every single day is to not skip meals and make sure I eat because there have been times where I would skips meals just because I didn’t feel like eating. The last time I weighed myself, I weighed 101 pounds and I am not trying to lose weight; weighing that much isn’t something I’m proud of.

Why am I telling you all of this? My point is that we all have these moments where we are at our lowest, but we are terrified to talk about it to other people. We feel the need to put on a happy face for other people to make them think that everything is okay and that we have this perfect life without any struggles. We end up hiding our feelings underneath the rug because we are afraid to openly talk about it because we think that no one is ever going to understand what we are going through.

Let’s take social media as an example. It’s just a highlight reel of everyone’s accomplishments; we hardly ever see someone at their lowest on social media, which that makes us assume that their life is perfect and that they don’t have struggles.

To put an end to this, we need to be more open and real about what we are going through. You have no idea who you will help when you talk about what you have been through and how you have overcome whatever it was.

When you openly tell someone what you have been through and tell them how you have felt the same way they are feeling, it makes them feel less alone.

We all go through things that no one knows about on the inside, but we hardly ever talk about what we are going through and it’s as if we are ashamed of it, which that shouldn’t be the case.

When you have someone that you can tell everything to and they are there to truly listen to you so you can talk it out, it helps so much. We need more people in this world who are willing to listen instead of only listening to respond by thinking about what they are going to say next.

The situation you are in right now is going to help you grow into the person you have always meant to be. I’m a true believer in everything happens for a reason and there is always reason for everything, even though we sometimes don’t understand it.

You’re not alone. God is with you during your most darkest times of your life.

Please repeat this to yourself: “I’m going to be okay. I will get through this, for my God is with me and He will help me. He will strengthen me. I will not give up, I will keep on fighting. I will start taking care of myself and making my mental health a priority. I am strong. I am brave. I am fearless. I am never alone because God is with me and there are people in my life who love me. ”

You’re a fighter. You will get through this. You are loved. You matter, my sweet friend.
