I know, both of the blog posts last week were about mental health and about checking up on your loved ones – the post from last Friday was depressing for me to write, so I figured to write about something that I have been currently implementing in my daily life: living a positive and happy life!

There are some tips that have helped me to do exactly that and they have also helped with my anxiety. I hope y’all find some of these tips to be helpful or want to implement one of them in your own lives. Please let me know in the comments of this post on what you do to maintain a positive life because I am curious to know!

1. Having quotes in your room, your wallpaper on your phone, laptop, etc. that inspire you

This is my most favorite thing about trying to be positive! I love looking up quotes on Pinterest, I have a collage of pictures in my room of quotes that motivate me, a mirror that has sticky notes with sayings I live by, AND I recently changed my laptop desktop wallpaper plus the screensaver to something that inspires me every single time I look at it!

Here’s a picture of the collage I have in my room and I got the picture frame type thing at HomeGoods a few years back so I’m not sure if they still have it. I look at this collage every day and the quotes definitely helps me to have the best day!

Y’all have seen my mirror before when I did the blog post about fighting my battles, but I wanted to still include it because I look at my mirror every day (who doesn’t?) when I get ready in the mornings and it constantly reminds me that I’m a Daughter of A King, be my beautiful self, that love will never fail – if it does, then it isn’t truly love. Lastly, I have the Bible verse 1 Peter 3:4 (the sticky note is above the be your beatiful self – not shown in the picture below)

It is not fancy hair, gold jewelry, or fine clothes that should make you beautiful. No, your beauty should come from inside you – the beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit. That beauty will never disappear and it is worth very much to God. -1 Peter 3:4

I believe every girl should have this verse on their mirrors to remind them that beauty comes from our inner-most selves and it is so important for us to remember that.

Now, I finally found a wallpaper that I love as the wallpaper on my laptop and I don’t think I will ever want to change it! Let me tell you, these little things of just changing your background on your electronic device will truly make a difference in your life!

So, here is my wallpaper on my laptop. I ended up finding the background on Google (it took a lot of searching to find the “perfect” one) and then, I added the “Be your beautiful self” by editing the background on PicMonkey, a graphic design app. I was so happy that I could finally sit down and do this; while I was at it, I ended up changing my laptop’s screensaver to show a variety of different quotes I found that inspired me and they still do!

**This is just a few of the quotes I have and it plays like a slideshow by showing each quote that I put in a file

I also have my phone’s lock screen set as the “You Are a Daughter of a King” wallpaper and for my home screen, the “You’re a Rare Flower in a Garden – You can find them both right here on my blog!

2. Drink hot tea before you go to bed

This is another tip that I try to do every week at night and I love drinking hot tea! The ones that I drink are detox teas and both of them have cute little sayings on each tea bag. That is also why I included this tip because I enjoy reading a new quote everytime I open the tea bag!

**For those who are wondering, I was drinking the Yogi Rose Hibiscus Skin Detox tea in this picture

The first one I have been drinking for a long time now and it’s to detox your skin. I can’t explain what it taste like, but it has rose hibiscus in it (it’s actually pretty good, trust me!) My mom ended up purchasing six boxes of this tea off of Amazon since we can’t find it at the grocery story anymore!

Here is link to it on Amazon.

I also drink Spearmint tea and if you like the taste of the spearmint gum, you will definitely enjoy drinking this tea!

This one is also found on Amazon.

3. Have a pretty water bottle

This next tip is so simple! Y’all probably think I’m so weird now, but having a water bottle that looks pretty really does help me to have a positive life! I have purchased this 22 oz. water bottle off of Amazon back in April and I drink out of it every single day! I would also bring the water bottle with me when I drove to class and it was such a lifesaver to have!

I got the rose gold 22 oz. one on Amazon.

4. Reducing Anxiety

This last tip is for those who struggle with anxiety, have a lot of stress in their life, or have trouble focusing. I have always been on a look out for vitamins that would help my anxiety and strees. Honestly, anxiety can take over your life if you let it and I didn’t want to be prescribed a medication – I always make sure to take the natural route!

With that being said, I discovered Ashwagandha vitamins on Amazon a few years ago and I’m so thankful I did! They lower my anxiety to the point I feel calm, especially when I drive because I get really bad anxiety when I have to be behind the wheel. I have always had anxiety when it comes to driving because let’s be real, it took me three tries to get my permit AND three tries to get my license at 18 years old. Let that sink in. Ashwagandha also helps me with reducing stress and trust me, I stress out a lot just from being in college! I also want to thank those who checked on me this past spring semester and kept me in their prayers because I ended up making all A’s in my classes (a 4.0 GPA) so thank y’all for praying for me! It was the most busiest semester of my college career and taking Ashwagandha only played a tiny role in keeping me calm because God was truly the one that helped me get through this semester!

You can also get it off of Amazon.

If you have anxiety and are looking for something that isn’t prescribed by a doctor, I would recommend you trying Ashwagandha out to see if it works for you and hopefully it does because anxiety can really take a toll of our lives.

I hope y’all enjoyed reading this blog post about the different ways you can live a positive life and I hope one of you found it useful!

  1. Thank you for this post. Great tips, and I’m going to check out the vitamin you suggested. I save a lot of scripture and encouraging quotes from Pinterest. I use them daily to lift the spirits of my friends and myself.
