Even if you don’t want to admit it, we have all strayed away from God at some point in our lives.
Difficult situations can do that where we just don’t understand why God let this happen to us and because of the pain we’re feeling, we tend to guard our hearts from God and we tell Him, “No, I don’t want your help anymore, God. I will figure it out myself.”
I have been there. During the process of figuring out what was going on with my body, I didn’t feel like myself – I would stay in bed for most of the day on weekends, felt exhausted all the time, and sadly, I didn’t even feel motivated to get myself ready for church. There were times where I went months without going to church. During this time of my life, I felt like I needed to figure everything out and what my next move would me. I didn’t like not knowing what was going on with me and my mental state was so horrible. Everything about that time of my life was just so depressing. I didn’t understand what God was doing. Even though I temporarily left God during this time of my life, I found my way back to Him. This was just a season of my life that left me feeling unbalanced. Once I found out that I had PCOS, I started trusting God more than ever that He does have a plan for me and God is still showing me that daily.

I came back to God once I realized that God could have put something much worse in my way like cancer or being told that I had a short amount of time to live. I’m so blessed that all it was, was PCOS and not something else. Yes, the acne and having hair growing so fast everywhere are both a pain, but I am still alive, my heart is still beating, and I’m healthy – that is all that really matters. In the beginning, I asked God, “Why is this happening?” and then once I found out, I asked, “Why me?” and today I tell God, “Thank you for choosing me because through me, You will give other people who have PCOS hope and I will be their light.”
Since I missed so much church, I wanted to make it up by attending church every weekend during Lent and not miss any of the weekends. Well, attending church in person is still cancelled, but I have been attending church online because my church does livestreams. The one thing that stuck out to me that the Deacon said was about how all of this is our wakeup call because we have been fleeing from God, especially since the church attendance decreased way before the epidemic. The Deacon was right and he still is. I even felt guilty because I knew I was one of them and I did miss so much church.
When we stray away from God, we always find our way back to Him or if we are really lost, God will leave everything behind to come find us.
Good Friday looks different for all of us this year and we aren’t able to be with our families to celebrate that our King has resurrected on the day of Easter. I know it’s sad, but let’s look on the bright side: this is the Easter we will all never forget and this is the time to talk to Jesus and spend more time with Him. Take in everything and be thankful for the blessings He has given you!
I pray all of you are safe and healthy. For this Easter, I challenge each of you to grow closer to Jesus because He saved us all when He died on the cross. He did it for us. He did it because He loves all of us and He loves you.

When you find the time, please listen to “Ashes” by Danny O’Callaghan.
“These tears were made for hours yet to see
The hope that lives within Your dream for me
You’re with me through the pain and suffering
As I will be with You in Glory
I lean on you Dear Father, here I remain
You stay close with mercy as You fill my faith
In muddy waters deep an anchor holds this hope in You
You have control
Hope is rising up from the ashes”

I added a new page to this blog and I encourage all of you to check it out! For those of you who are new here, I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) in December of 2019. I have been documenting everything that I have been through and experienced – from discussing my symptoms before I knew what was wrong, all the way to what I am doing now to help my body. My goal is to balance my hormones naturally without taking birth control. I want to give other women with PCOS hope that birth control isn’t the only option. All of the details about My PCOS journey Pinterest board can be found here.
