During this time last year, I wrote a blog post about me thanking 2018 and I wanted to do the same for 2019, but in a different way!

I honestly don’t know where to start because I learned a lot of lessons this year!

2019 taught me patience… a lot of it – I do have patience, but when it comes to my health, I just wanted to find out what was wrong with me right away and then, find a solution to fix it. Now, I know that things are going to take some time and I’m okay with that; it’s a process.

They say that being 21 is probably the best year of our lives and we should enjoy being in our early twenties… ha! For me, there were some setbacks with my health and during the last half of 2019, I was constantly going to Doctor appointments, getting blood tests (so many), and looking at all my options to help my body. People who are 21 probably don’t have to worry so much about their health.

I would honestly be the person who tells themselves, “let’s wait until next month and see if it happens again.” Do you know what happens when you keep on pushing it back instead of seeing a Doctor? It can become worse over the months. I didn’t want to ever think that something was wrong with me and God made me face it, even though I really didn’t want to, but I knew in my heart that I needed to.

2019 taught me that it is so important to take care of ourselves first. Don’t wait until something horrible happens to you like I did. I realized that our bodies need us and mine need me, we must listen to its needs. Even if we begin to eat healthier, that is a start because when we get older, what we have eaten when we were younger will definitely catch up to us! It’s all about taking great care of your body and eating right for it, so when you do get older, you are less likely to have something wrong with your body. 2019 has taught me so much about all of this and I have to really listen to my body when it comes to different foods when I eat – I am still learning this!

2019 taught me the importance of living in the moment and being grateful for where I am at in my life now. The 2016 Kylie would be so proud of the 2019 Kylie because I am closer to becoming an Elementary teacher and I will always remember this past Fall semester because I truly enjoyed every little detail about this semester, it also led me out of my comfort zone! My past self would be so proud of who I have become today and I’m so thankful for all the trials God has put me through. Yes, of course, I would get knocked down every once and a while, but I picked myself back up again every single time!

2019 even taught me that things can change in a flash and tomorrow isn’t ever promised. When I found out about having PCOS, I wanted to go a few years back in my life and do things differently, to try to prevent that from happening. Unfortunately, we can’t turn back time and I truly believe that God always has a reason for why He does things the way He does. I’m so thankful that I found out this young instead of when I’m older because now, I can find a way to help my body. We shouldn’t regret the horrible things that happen to us because there is always, always a lesson behind it and it changes us for the better!

That is what 2019 taught me and I am so thankful for this year because it has taught me so much about myself, even when I had hard times, I got back up and fought. We’re all fighters going through life and I can’t wait to see what all 2020 will teach me, I am so looking forward to this brand new decade! Are you?

I realized that I will be posting this on Christmas and I will also be posting on New Year’s, too because I post every Wednesday! With that being said, Merry Christmas everyone and if you celebrate something else other than Christmas, I hope you have a wonderful day celebrating! Baby Jesus has now been born, let’s always remember the true meaning of Christmas!

What has 2019 taught you? Please let me know in the comments of this blog post!
